Hi everyone! Welcome to The Repost Edit, a curated newsletter where I’ll talk about what I’ve reposted on my socials over the last few weeks, as well as sharing my thoughts about what I have about it. My digital presence is built around the things I share, so why not step it up a notch? So I figured that in addition to putting everyone on game, I also want to share how the content I consume — movies, books, tiktoks, reels, tv shows — makes me feel, how it relates to my identity, and hopefully contribute to the conversation of what’s happening to the culture at large. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, or even if you want to see a snippet of my feed, feel free to subscribe & share!
International Women’s Day is a time when we recognize not only that women should be celebrated everyday, but also the intrinsic value of having stories, journeys, and proximity to the amazing and resilient women in our lives. Systemic barriers can create disparities for women around the world, and it’s important to find ways where we can empower each other. For this week I want to give a short list of all of the creators and business owners that inspire me as a creative!
Bay Area Businesses & Entrepreneurs
With the current socioeconomic climate in the States right now, small businesses and entrepreneurs are going to be impacted immensely with the costs of tariffs. The entrepreneurs listed below are some but not limited to all of the women that you can go out and support right now within the Bay Area!
Malaya Botanicals: Created out of a need for holistic relief, Malaya Botanicals is a business based in Alameda, CA that sells CBD products for pain-relief and relaxation. The founder Pia Barton is one of those rare people that pours her heart out by showing up for not only Malaya Botanicals, but also for her community and women entrepreneurs throughout the Bay Area. Every time I step into her shop and her space, I feel that I’m a part of something bigger — something built with love, intention, and a commitment to healing.
@inkdrippederica: Erica’s tattoo work speaks for itself—her gothic-inspired style is so distinct. More than a year into her craft, what makes Erica stand out is her approach. She takes the time to connect with her clients, making sure each piece is not just beautiful but meaningful, expressing her style and journey as an artist. If you’ve been thinking about getting some ink, she’s the one to see.
Second Vintage & Thrift (@222ndVintage): Dominique and her husband have an eye for nostalgia, curating vintage Y2K, mid-2000s, and 90s pieces that feel effortlessly cool and reliable. What I love most is that they’re not just selling clothes—they’re continuously curating their own style. If you’re looking to tap into that era, check out their next event.
Catalyst Wellness: Founded by Cat Elumba, Catalyst Wellness is all about making holistic health just as exciting as it is essential. Cat has been there for me in so many seasons of my life, and her commitment to educating and uplifting her community is something I deeply admire. If you want to feel empowered in your well-being journey and have someone in your corner, she’s the person to learn from.
Creators & Social Media Accounts That Keep Me Inspired:
These women absolutely give me so much life — they bring so much authenticity, humor, and insight to my timeline:
Jasmine Zamora-Perez: Jazmine Zamora-Perez has been inspiring me since I was a kid, brightening up every family function with her love, humor, and stories, and she continues to do so with her fearless style and transparent reflections on every trip, vlog, and memory of her life. Every time I watch her stories or see her in person, I walk away feeling reassured, confident, and inspired to achieve my dreams. She’s the OG Fly Filipina Auntie in my heart and I stand by that!
Drew Afualo: Famously known as a Crusader of Women and never hesitating to dunk on a stinky man for entertainment, Drew Afualo continues to rise in digital culture and influence through her Spotify podcast “The Comment Section”, the release of her book ‘Loud: Accept Nothing Less than the Life You Deserve’, and her consistent appearances as a mainstream entertainment host. With her sharp and unyielding reasoning that stops misogyny in their tracks and condemns any person that disrespects women, Drew Afualo is shining through with sharing her story of finding empowerment in yourself and giving the middle finger to anyone that says otherwise.
Kay Poyer: I will not stop raving about LadyMissKay, I will be incessant if I have to! Her rise to internet fame with her takes akin to the girls that smoke outside the club and offers surprisingly poignant & casual advice with a lighter, making her one of the most exciting women on my FYP right now. To understand her podcast ‘MEAT BUS’ is to understand the importance of speaking your own mind about truly (like,, truly) anything and utilizing your platform to represent your community.
DJs You Can Experience Right Now:
Going to and living my best life at music and live events has always been a way for me to connect with the world around me. Here are some women that I’ve seen in the past year that I love to see on a lineup every time:
DJ Noodz: Going ‘crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious’ on the San Francisco Ferry this past February, Noodz is a DJ born and raised in the East Bay and has a versatile hand on every music genre. She’s been in the game since the mid 2010s, touring with Kehlani and expanding into her own headlining gigs. Noodz has been leveling up ever since and is a California gem!
DJ Lex: Another Filipina baddie on the board, DJ Lex is known for her smooth transitions and synesthetic R&B/Hip-Hop sets that elevates the energy of any event. Combining some of the most trending and influential R&B and Hip-Hop tracks out, DJ Lex is a tastemaker effortlessly representing the West Coast. Her shows and Youtube sets are on the queue if I’m ever passed the aux.
Before ending it here, I want to give a huge shout out to all the women in my life — my girlfriends, my sister, my cousins, and of course my mama. You know who you are and I love you so much!!
This is just a small part of an infinite list of all the women that inspire me. Who in your life or on your socials do you want to share this International Womens Day? I’d love to know who’s shaping your feed and your life.
If you reached the end of this, thank you for reading! I hope to see y’all at the next one, Bye! * closing thumbnail *
